Remote, Intelligent & Sustainable aquaculturE system for Fish

The Fish RISE Project

Objectives

The purpose of fish RISE is to increase economic social and environmental sustainability of aquaculture through the design and development of a wide methodological and technological framework for innovative in land-based and offshore aquaculture. The implementation of the framework solutions will follow a multidisciplinary approach to deal with the problem from multiple points of view by identifying excellent solutions in terms of methodologies and technologies. All developed solutions will contribute to the creation of 2 Prototypes of sustainable technology assisted production systems in land-based and offshore aquaculture.

In order to give to the project a holistic structure, fish RISE aims to achieve 3 Macro Specific Objectives:

  1. Food system: creation of technologies and methodologies to ensure the quality of edible products and other biotechnological (biopolymer) derivatives produced by the fish RISE platform;
  2. Health management system: creation of technologies and methodologies to ensure the farmed fish health and growth, by controlling and monitoring the production environment;
  3. Control and management system: creation of technologies and methodologies to ensure the functioning of the structure with respect to the external environment and the relationship between the farmed fishes and the external environment.

work packages

WP1: Analysis and background definition of knowledge, methodologies and technologies for assisted land-based and offshore aquaculture.

WP2: definition of optimal parameters for aquaculture production. Development of technologies and methodologies to ensure the quality of the edible products
and derivatives of biotechnological interest (waste products, bio-polymers, natural, functional and molecules
with high added value).

WP3: design and development of Health management System. Development of technologies and methodologies for the production systems controlling and
monitoring.

WP4: development of the land-based integrated aquaculture system in its prototype version.

WP5: development of the structural components of the offshore aquaculture cage.

WP6: development of all IT solutions that are useful for monitoring and managing fish RISE production
structures.

WP7: realization of a meteo marine previsional system for off-shore cage.

WP8: integration of the components developed within the project in order to come to the final version of
prototypes, and verify their correct functioning in an operating environment.

WP9: technological transfer, innovation dissemination and reception. To achieve a proper dissemination and acceptance of innovation in fish RISE by triggering the technology transfer process that brings innovation from the research sector to the market.
